You’re invited to the grand opening of The Tap!
Edward the landlord would like everyoneto joing him and check out the revamped space.
The pub has been renovated to a fanatasic standard and they wished to get it back to a good local and a place to chill relax

History of the pub
Originally called The Cottage by the Brook situated at the junction of Peel Terrace and Sandon Road opened as a purpose built pub, in 1862 the first landlord being Henry Shipton from 13 County Road. The increase in purpose-built all-encompassing shoe factories from the 1860s onwards may have further stimulated housing development as the workers were no longer home based and needed to be close to their place of employment. By the late 19th century this area was dominated by terraced housing and manufactories. Even into the later 19th century employers lived adjacent to their works.
*The Brook is referring to Marston/Pearl Brook running from Marston to the River Sow at Fairway
*Frequented The Eagles bikers for many years and laid claim to the longest bar in Stafford before it was refurbished and renamed in 1994 and on the 14th of July reopened as the Tap and Spile, with 1970s group Lindisfarne providing the entertainment.
Several periods of closures and reopening followed but it reopened as the Tap Steakhouse on 2nd November 2018 as an independently owned & run pub & restaurant.

In 2022 with new licensees there was a change of name to the Tap Bar & Restaurant.
*Tap & Spile - The sign of the Tap and Spile refers to the devices used to get bare flowing from a barrel. The spiral is a tapered peg that is pushed into the barrel and the tap operated to poor operator to pour the beer into the glass. Modern pressurized beer delivery systems have made this type of device less common but in common. A Tapster was the man working the tap on the barrel and so to draw the beer, otherwise known as the stinker or draw

New landlord Edward Hayward of The Kings Arms has taken the pub on and after extensive refurbishment will open the pub on 23rd of August 2024 renaming the premises The Tap
