Members of the waste savvy team collected an impressive 612 recyclable items which were given to charities including Hearts & Hands, Rehome and Repurpose for Charity, Free IT Stafford and EEE4 Disadvantaged.
The activity is part of a wider council campaign working with local charities to collect donations from the authority’s recycling centres.
Simon Tagg, Cabinet Member for the Environment at Staffordshire County Council said: We are incredibly proud of the collective effort shown by our colleagues during Recycling Week.
The number of recyclable materials collected is a testament to our commitment to protecting the environment. By donating the items to local charities, we are not only promoting sustainability but also supporting those in need within our county. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this initiative a resounding success.”
The council have also been giving back to the community through their reuse schemes. Residents can now donate and pick up items at the county’s HWRC’s through the PaintCycle, MediCycle and TechCycle schemes rather than throwing items away.
The authority hopes to expand these initiatives, encouraging more residents to participate and make a positive impact on the environment and the community.
