Results are in from the local council elections
There was no change of control on Stafford district council after Thursday's elections, with the two main parties almost neck and neck, but there were a number of local casualties, including the council leader.
The Conservatives lost 8 seats, giving them 14, and Labour gained three, making their tally 13; the Lib Dems registered one seat and the Independents were unchanged at 7. The Green Party gained four seats, giving them five in all.
Council Leader Patrick Farrington lost his seat in Gnosall and Jonathan Price failed to be re-elected in Holmcroft ward. Both are leading Conservatives.
Turnout was 31.71% of the total electorate.

Conservative Party 14 Labour Party 13 Stafford Borough Independents 7 Green Party 5 Liberal Democrat 1
