Stafford Repair Café returns for a couple of events this autumn.
The first is at Trinity Church, Mount Street, Stafford, ST16 2BZ on Saturday 23 September 2023, from 10.00
am to 1.00 pm. Their expert volunteers boast a range of skills from sewing, electrical repairs
and carpentry to bike repairs, computing and tool sharpening, and can deal with most common household items, and even some unusual ones.
Organiser Rob Hine of Sustainability Matters says: “Since 2017 our events have become regular fixtures in Stafford, and help the environment and people’s finances by making stuff last longer. This is especially important in these difficult times when household incomes are squeezed. There are opportunities to learn new tips, meet others, and linger over a cuppa and a chat.”
Stafford Repair Cafés have successfully repaired over 450 items for free, including many vacuum cleaners, garden shears, strimmers, ornaments, clocks, laptops, toys and garments. This reduces the amount of stuff that is thrown away and hence the raw materials and energy needed to make new products.
Following event: Saturday 14 October at St John’s Church, Westhead Avenue, Littleworth, Stafford, ST16 3RP, 10.00 am til 1.00 pm.
