The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at County Hospital in Stafford has been able to furnish a new day room thanks to a grant made possible by our supporters.
Staff from the Unit were able to purchase a range of furniture including sofas and recliner chairs for use in the new room.
Rodney Lowe, ward manager said: “The improvements to our new day room, made possible thanks to the support of UHNM Charity, will benefit our patients and their loved ones.
“This room needed to be as homely, comforting and caring as possible to provide patients with a dedicated space away from the clinical setting of the ward. Patients are now able to eat socially in groups, take part in crafts and other activities and await discharge in a more comfortable and less clinical space.
“We’re also able to use the room as a private and quiet meeting space for family members.”
The AMU accepts patients directly from GP’s and the hospital’s A&E department, helping to provide early treatment for patients with a range of medical conditions.
Steve Rushton, Head of UHNM Charity added: “We were delighted to support colleagues at County Hospital in furnishing this new day room on AMU. Using funds from our amazing supporters, we hope this newly refurbished day room will serve as a welcome space away from the busy clinical environment.”
