Katharine House Hospice Christmas Tree Collection returns for 2026

A local hospice has announced the return of its annual Christmas tree recycling scheme, inviting residents, schools, churches, and businesses to have their real trees collected in exchange for a charitable donation.

The scheme, now in its ninth year, allows people to register their trees for collection online. Once picked up the trees are taken to Mill Farm Recycling near Eccleshall, where they are shredded and turned into peat-free compost, keeping them out of landfill and supporting local sustainability efforts.

Over the past eight years, the initiative has recycled thousands of trees and raised tens of thousands of pounds in donations, helping the hospice continue to provide specialist care and support for people living with incurable illnesses and their families.

“This is a wonderful way for the community to support the hospice while also doing something positive for the environment,” said Lyndsey Howard, Community and Events Fundraiser.

Residents who would like to take part can register their trees online at www.just-helping.org.uk/register-tree before midnight on Sunday, 4 January 2026.

Collections will take place the following week from the postcode areas:

    ST14, ST15, ST16, ST17, ST18, ST19, ST20, ST21, WS11, WS12, and WS15.

The service is for real trees only, and all pots, decorations, and lights should be removed prior to collection.

The hospice thanks its partners, Just Helping, Veolia, and sponsor Stan Robinson Ltd, for their continued support in making the initiative possible.
