Local teams in play-off action this weekend

Brocton, Stafford Town and Eccleshall are all in semi-final play-off matches this weekend

Three of Mid-Staffordshire's local footballing teams are in semi-final play-off action this weekend with all 3 sides looking to gain promotion following successful campaigns.

Alex Curtis' Brocton will go to neighbouring Shifnal Town on Saturday afternoon in the Capelli Sport MFL Premier Division play-off semi-final.

The Badgers finished the domestic season with a 2-0 defeat last weekend at Dudley Town. However, Brocton have excelled in a tough season which has seen them knocking on the promotion door and finishing the campaign in their highest ever league position in 88 years.

A win on Saturday afternoon will push them closer to making the leap up to the next level.

Meanwhile, following a brilliant campaign, Stafford Town find themselves in the play-off's and will face Sandbach at Evans Park on Saturday in the semi-finals.

Town led the pack for much of the season and promotion would cement an extremely successful season with Adam Wall's men also chasing silverware in the Macron Cup on the 5th May.

The Eagles are also in action as they head up to the Potteries to face Abbey Hulton United in the North West Counties First Division South play-off semi-final. A win could see Eccleshall go head to head with Stafford Town.

All matches will be played on Saturday 19th April at 3pm.
